Women On Wheels (WOW) - California Wind Dancers

Meeting Place: Denny's in Fremont at MOWRY, cross street FARWELL, in the Mowry East Shopping Center, just EASTof the # 880 - MOWRY EXIT. There is a Chevron there, just across the street. You can pull into the Chevron first and fill up, then come to Denny's across the street. For those who may be late, there are 2 donut shops, and a Burger King nearby, for quickie snacks. You will be on the road for 3-4 hours, pee breaks + gas stops in between, until Lunch in Livermore at Coco's Restaurant, corner of North Mines Rd. and First St., arrive approximately 2 PM. Eat, then return on # 84 to Fremont, thru Niles Canyon. (Variation: you may want to take a LEFT on MINES RD. to Mt. Hamilton, to San Jose).
Tentative Route: MOWRY go WEST to MISSION BLVD, turn LEFT on MISSION.
Go one block to NILES, turn RIGHT on NILES.
Go about 4 MILES, then JUST BEFORE the UNDERPASS, turn LEFT onto PALOMARES RD.
Go 10 MILES, then turn LEFT on PALOVERDE RD.
One minute later, turn left on EAST CASTRO VALLEY RD.
Follow that to REDWOOD RD, turn RIGHT on REDWOOD RD.
Follow REDWOOD RD. a long way, to PINEHURST RD. where you make a SHARP RIGHT hand turn uphill onto PINEHURST RD. Look carefully, or you will miss PINEHURST RD. (IF YOU MISS, then you would shortly end up at SKYLINE. If you do miss, then U-TURN around, and go BACK to PINEHURST, coming back from SKYLINE on REDWOOD RD., then you would take a LEFT onto PINEHURST, it's not so sharp a turn that way.)
Follow PINEHURST RD. Then you would take a RIGHT on CANYON RD. toward MORAGA, which becomes MORAGA RD.
When MORAGA RD. becomes a 4 lane road there will be a Pitstop at CHEVRON GAS on LEFT.
Then follow MORAGA RD. a long way to MT.DIABLO RD, turn RIGHT on MT. DIABLO RD.
Follow MT.DIABLO RD. to PLEASANT HILL RD. Turn RIGHT on PLEASANT HILL RD.
Go to OLYMPIC RD., take a LEFT on OLYMPIC RD. You will be going thru WALNUT CREEK now, there will be LOTS of stop LITES.
Go under # 680 to CALIFORNIA, turn LEFT on CALIFORNIA.
Go a few lites to YGNACIO VALLEY RD. turn RIGHT on YGNACIO VALLEY RD.
Go a long way to CLAYTON RD. Turn RIGHT on CLAYTON RD. which will become MARSH CREEK RD. (Do not turn right where it says Marsh Creek Rd., continue forward)
Follow MARSH CREEK RD. a long way, till you see SIGNS to BYRON, you STAY RIGHT AT FORK, on CAMINO DIABLO, go on CAMINO DIABLO towards BYRON.
Take CAMINO DIABLO to STOP LITE at VASCO RD., take a RIGHT on VASCO RD.
Follow VASCO RD. a long way to 580, JUST BEFORE 580 there is a CHEVRON , turn LEFT into CHEVRON, fill up.
Go over 580 on VASCO, to 76 STATION just on the other side of 580, take a RIGHT at ' 76 STATION, then take an IMMEDIATE RIGHT again just next to the ' 76, that will be on SOUTHFRONT RD. I did not see a sign for it. Now you will be paralleling 580 on this SOUTHFRONT RD. heading WEST.
Follow SOUTHFRONT RD. about 2 MILES until you see CHEVY'S, take a LEFT there onto FIRST ST. which becomes # 84.
Follow FIRST ST. two lites to NORTH MINES RD. Turn LEFT at NORTH MINES RD. then immediately turn RIGHT into COCO'S Restaurant parking lot. LUNCH ! (We arrived about 1:20)
After Lunch: you will continue the same direction on FIRST ST. # 84, going 2 miles thru LIVERMORE, to HOLMES ST., BEAR LEFT at HOLMES ST., it says # 84 SAN JOSE-PLEASANTON, take the LEFT FORK to SAN JOSE, HOLMES ST. direction. HOLMES ST. will become VALLECITOS RD # 84.
Go 8 MILES on VALLECITOS RD. to Junction of # 680. You have a CHOICE of taking # 680 NORTH or # 680 SOUTH there, or taking the MIDDLE, NO FREEWAY, to the SUNOL-DUMBARTON # 84 EXIT, to END of the EXIT RAMP where you take a RIGHT onto NILES CANYON, toward SUNOL. (Variation, you may choose to take a LEFT here, back under the freeway overpass, to go thru CALAVERAS CANYON, instead of Niles Canyon. Now back to original route)
Go to next STOP SIGN, BEAR LEFT where sign points SUNOL- DUMBARTON BRIDGE, this is STILL NILES CANYON RD.
Stay on NILES CANYON ROAD a long way, to MISSION BLVD, take a LEFT on MISSION BLVD.
Go one block to MOWRY, take a RIGHT on MOWRY. You will take MOWRY back to # 880. (Or you may choose to stay on Niles at Mission, no turn, and go right, under the overpass, thru the town of Niles. There are usually a lot of bikers parked at a bar in the middle of town. Then continue on thru Niles, to Decoto Rd, take a left on Decoto, to get to # 880.)
